Yet Another Evaluation....

We just finished the ADOS Evaluation and had our meeting with the Developmental Specialist at Children's Hospital.

Now, Roman will be evaluated AGAIN, by a team of early intervention teachers at our local school district. This evaluation, will determine whether or not he is eligible for an IEP, which means he can start preschool on his third birthday, which is at the end of February.

The IEP, if you're not familiar, allows Roman to basically receive all the extra help he may need when it comes to speech and language while at preschool. It's four days a week for almost three hours.

He'll be assessed Monday January 9th, and we won't know if he's accepted for a little while.

Feeling Confident.

I'm fairly certain Roman will be eligible for an IEP and my plan is to start him in preschool on his third birthday.

Why you may ask? I am confident the reason he's experiencing a delay is because of lack of socialization. My gut tells me. a few months in preschool, and then continue in the fall of course, will help him catch right up, and give him all the tools he needs to be successful heading into Kindergarten.
