The One who Made Me a Mama

His name is Roman.
It was a game time decision. My husband and I knew what we wanted to name a girl, but man we were clueless on a boy name.

My husband, myself and Roman just moments after birth.
My husband insisted "Roman" was the name. I insisted it was not and liked "Colton." My husband, won.
Game Time Decision.
So the reason it was a game time decision was because my husband and I just simply couldn't agree. So he chose a name and I chose a name, and we decided when we met our son for the first time, we would just know. That's exactly what happened.
When Roman was born, he was two weeks early and weighed almost 8-pounds. But that's not why we named him "Roman."

Roman just days old. I put him in the sun because he was jaundice.
He looked like a puppy dog, with his hands and feet HUGE in comparison to the rest of his body. My husband looked at me and said "Look at strong he is. Roman is a strong name."
So, Roman it is.

Who is Roman?
Roman has always had a mind of his own, even as a newborn. He was never a good sleeper. It took about a year for him to sleep through the night as they say. And he definitely let me know it when he wasn't happy, and still does to this day.

My face as Roman "Let's me have it." In fact, I still make that face when he expresses himself.
I like to describe Roman as opinionated, passionate, strong-willed, curious, silly, happy, strong, and comical. He makes me laugh, when I just want to cry. I've never in my life met someone who can make me so angry I well up with tears, and yet melt my heart so much at the same exact time.
I choose to describe him in a positive light. I don't want him growing up thinking being opinionated is a problem, or being strong-willed is an issue (most would say stubborn). I refuse to let him have a negative attitude toward himself. That's my decision as Roman's mama.
